Six sudden deaths reported in South Wales prison

Police received reports that six people had died suddenly at a prison in South Wales.

South Wales Police said four deaths at Bridgend Royal Prison Park were believed to be drug-related and two other deaths were treated as non-suspicious.

Police said the death occurred after February 27.

Detective Inspector Steve Jones added: “At this stage we are unable to confirm whether these four deaths are linked to any specific drugs, but we have undertaken rapid procedures and have identified the presence of nitrates in relation to all four deaths. .”

“Two of the four deaths have been identified as spice.

“Autopsies have been completed on two of the four men and the cause of death is inconclusive at this stage and we are awaiting toxicology tests. The other two men are awaiting autopsies.”

Opened in 1997, HMP Parc is a category B men’s private prison and young offenders’ institution run by security company G4S.
