Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday refuted the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party’s accusation that Cauvery water was being released into Tamil Nadu even as Bengaluru was facing a severe water crisis. lie.

Calling this a lie, Siddaramaiah said he would not provide a drop of water to Tamil Nadu.

“All these are lies. In this case, who will let the water flow? We will not give even a drop of water to Tamil Nadu without retaining it for our consumption,” the chief minister told reporters here .

He said there was neither request from Tamil Nadu nor instructions from Karnataka to release water to the neighboring state.

“Why should we give them water when they (Tamil Nadu) have not asked for it? Where can we give it to them? Even if Tamil Nadu asks for it or the Center or others direct it, there is no way to give them water. It’s a matter of us releasing the water,” Mr. Siddaramaiah said.

Opposition leader Ashoka on Monday accused the Karnataka government of releasing Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu.

He asked the state government to immediately stop releasing water to neighboring states and respond to the plight of the people of Bengaluru.
