The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 may debut alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 6 later this year. The phones haven’t been officially announced yet, but leaked details about foldable phones have surfaced online over the past few months. They are expected to succeed the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 respectively, which will be launched in July 2023. The newer model is said to have considerable upgrades over the current model. A new report claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 could be Samsung’s thinnest foldable phone yet.
Located in Somerville Report quoted a postal Posted by X (formerly Twitter) user @RjeyTech, it shows a model of the expected Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 compared to the previous model. The image shows the hinge side of the book-style foldable phone next to each other. When folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 measures 13.4 mm. According to the model, the dimensions of Galaxy Z Fold 6 are only 11 mm.
The report states that the image is not a render of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6, but a modified image of the current Galaxy Z Fold 5 model. But this image helps prove that, if true, it would make a huge difference in appearance. It’s worth noting that the purported foldable has also previously been tipped to feature a slimmer design.
At 11mm thick, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will reportedly be the Korean tech giant’s thinnest foldable smartphone yet. The report adds that the company may also use a titanium frame similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra to achieve the size change without affecting the structural integrity of the model. It is worth noting that the Galaxy S24 Ultra is 8.6 mm thick, which is thinner than the 8.9 mm Galaxy S23 Ultra with an aluminum chassis.
In other news, a recent leak claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 may feature the same main camera as the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The latter features a quad rear camera unit with a 200-megapixel primary sensor. It also has a 12-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 50-megapixel telephoto shooter, and a 10-megapixel camera.
Samsung is expected to equip the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with a larger display than its predecessor, which featured a 7.6-inch main display and a 6.2-inch cover. The company may also launch a more affordable foldable phone model alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, which may be called the Samsung Galaxy Z FE.
