Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 launches fall detection and emergency SOS features

The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 has been officially launched by the company on Thursday, February 22. Recently, the smartwatch appeared on the company’s UAE website, but now it has been launched and will go on sale in select markets on February 23. It is the successor to the Galaxy Fit 2 launched in September 2020 and comes with significant upgrades. The South Korean tech giant revealed that the fitness tracker’s display is 45% wider than its predecessor.

The Galaxy Fit 3 debuts four years after the last version, with an aluminum body that contrasts with the polycarbonate chassis of the older model. The fitness tracker also allows users to easily change straps via a one-touch release mechanism, although they will have to purchase additional straps separately. The smartwatch will be available in grey, pink gold and silver.

In terms of features, the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 comes with a 1.6-inch display, which the company highlights is 45 percent wider than the Galaxy Fit 2, which had a 1.1-inch screen. While the type of display has not been revealed, reports suggest it could be an OLED panel. Details about the fitness tracker’s processor have not been revealed, but it is reported to come with 16MB of RAM and 256MB of built-in storage. The smartwatch also has more than 100 watch faces, and users can also add their own photos as backgrounds.

Galaxy Fit 3 comes with features like heart rate and stress level monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) level monitoring, sensors for tracking sleep patterns and snoring, and more. There is a sleep coach feature that provides users with personalized insights to improve the quality of their sleep. For fitness enthusiasts, the fitness tracker comes with more than 100 workout modes. It has an IP68 dust and water resistance rating (up to 5ATM).

In addition to this, the smartwatch also has new features such as fall detection and emergency SOS. When describing the feature, Samsung said, “When an abnormal fall is detected, Galaxy Fit3 gives users the option to call emergency services immediately to receive timely medical support. When users encounter an emergency, they only need to press the side button five times. An immediate distress signal can be sent.” The tracker can also be used as a remote control for your Galaxy smartphone to take photos, set timers and control media player settings.

The company has not revealed pricing yet. Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 will be available in select markets starting February 23. It is not yet confirmed if the wearable will be launched in India.
