Samsung Galaxy AI may expand to Galaxy S22 series: report

By | Published | No Comments

Samsung may reportedly expand its Galaxy AI, a suite of artificial intelligence features currently only available on the Galaxy S24 series, to the older Galaxy S22 series. The tech giant previously confirmed that AI features will be added to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series as part of its upcoming One UI 6.1 update, but it does This was done. Excludes Galaxy S22 series.

However, according to a Report According to South Korean news outlet Naver News, Samsung Mobile Division President TM Roh revealed during a speech at the company’s 55th regular shareholder meeting in Seoul that some Galaxy AI features may be extended to the Galaxy S22 series. It is worth noting that the Galaxy S22 series includes the regular Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

According to Roh, the main issue with extending Galaxy AI capabilities to older devices is that some features are on-device. These features require high hardware capabilities that are not possible in devices that are too old. Samsung found a breaking point in the Galaxy S22 series. “Resources and efforts are being invested. We are gradually preparing plans to support a mature Galaxy AI experience [in the S22 series and older Samsung devices]”, Roh Moo-hyun said at the meeting, according to reports (via Google Translate). It’s unclear why the South Korean tech giant doesn’t add Galaxy AI’s cloud-based artificial intelligence capabilities to older devices.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will all receive Galaxy AI features through the One UI 6.1 update expected to be released by the end of this month. The first Galaxy AI feature coming to the company’s older phones and tablets is Circle to Search, which adds the ability to circle, highlight, or select objects and text in images searched on Google without leaving your current app program.

Other Galaxy AI features such as real-time translation, chat assistance, interpreter mode, note-taking assistance, browsing assistance, and transcription assistance will also be extended to these Samsung devices.
