Sadhguru undergoes surgery at Delhi hospital for chronic cerebral hemorrhage

Isha Foundation says Sadhguru is recovering well and progressing “beyond expectations”

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev underwent surgery at a Delhi hospital for life-threatening brain haemorrhage, his Isha Foundation said in a statement. The statement added that he was recovering well and progressing “exceeding expectations.”

“The neurosurgeons at Apollo Hospitals cut open my skull and tried to find something. But they found nothing… completely empty,” Sadhguru joked from his hospital bed in a video posted on Instagram after the surgery .

“…They gave up and patched it. I was in Delhi and the skull was patched but there was no damage,” he added.

According to the statement, Sadhguru had been suffering from severe headaches for the past four weeks. “Despite severe pain, he continued with his schedule and activities and even conducted an all-night MahaShivRatri celebration on March 8, 2024,” the statement said.

On arrival in Delhi on the afternoon of March 14, his headaches became severe, the foundation said, adding: “On the advice of Dr Vinit Suri of Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Sadhguru underwent an emergency MRI and the results showed that Profuse bleeding from the head.”

Chronic and fresh bleeding occurred in the hours before the examination, the report said.

However, he refused to be hospitalized until unfinished work commitments were completed, the release said.

On March 17, Sadhguru’s condition worsened and he complained of weakness in his left leg, worsening headaches and continued vomiting.

“He was finally admitted to hospital. A CT scan showed significant increase in brain swelling and a life-threatening shift of the brain to one side… He underwent emergency brain surgery within hours of admission to relieve bleeding in his skull. Sadhguru was discharged following the surgery Weaned off ventilator,” it added.
