Sadak Suraksha Abhiyan: Union Minister Gadkari says road safety awareness is crucial; urges people to help accident victims

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday emphasized the importance of road safety awareness and urged people to help the needy in case of an accident.

While speaking at the 2024 edition of ‘Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan’, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister said that efforts are being made to create awareness about road safety and society is changing.

“We should always help people who encounter accidents. If we don’t help others, no one will help us… I have always believed that where there is a will, there is a way. I like people who can get things done.” He said.

The minister recalled that in 2004, he met with a road accident on his way to Nagpur. Gadkari said he was seriously injured in the accident, which had a profound impact on his life.

“Life is precious and protecting life is the most important thing,” he said, urging people to come forward and help those involved in traffic accidents.

“If people respect and obey the law, people’s behavior will gradually change. This is the change of society,” he added.

‘Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan’ is a public service awareness campaign in collaboration with the Ministry of Roads, Transport and Highways and Save Lives Foundation to increase awareness on road safety and reduce the number of preventable accidents.

The campaign, now in its second season, aims to arouse a sense of responsibility among the masses and encourage citizens to behave responsibly on the roads.
