Russian passenger aircraft goes missing in Amur area with 47

A twin turboprop Antonov AN -24 passenger aircraft, including 47 people including five children, went missing on Thursday during today’s flight on Russia’s Far Eastern Amur region, Russia.

The aircraft had a 570 -km journey from Bagovasheskensk to Tibba, when it lost contact with air traffic control shortly before reaching its destination.

Governor Vasili Orlov of Amur region confirmed that 43 passengers and four crew members were on a missing flight. Emergency services said that the aircraft went away from the radar, a few kilometers from Tibba.

According to Russia Today, a discovery and rescue operation has been launched, but officials say Taiga-Ghene Borial Forest is covering the region.

Antonov AN-24, developed in the 1950s, is widely used for both cargo and passenger transport in Russia. More than 1,000 units of the aircraft were produced.

So far, there is no confirmation of debris or survivors. (AI)
