Russia and Ukraine have stepped up airstrikes in recent weeks.

Earlier on Sunday, the Ukrainian capital Kiev and the western region of Lviv came under Russian air strikes, officials said, putting Polish troops on high alert.
Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko posted on Telegram: “An explosion occurred in the capital. The air defense system is functioning. Do not leave the shelter.”
Maksym Kozytskyi, the governor of the Lviv region, said the Stry district, south of the city of Lviv and close to the Polish border, was also hit.
Ukraine had earlier entered a nationwide air alert, warning that Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers might launch cruise missiles.
The Polish Armed Forces Combat Command (RSZ) said its forces were on high alert due to “intense long-range aviation activity in the Russian Federation this evening” as well as missile attacks from Ukraine.
“All necessary procedures to ensure the security of Polish airspace have been initiated and the RSZ is continuously monitoring the situation,” the statement said.
RSZ also said “Polish and allied aircraft have been activated”.

After more than two years of war, Kiev has been struggling to find weapons and soldiers and has pledged to take the fight to Russian soil in retaliation.
Moscow responded by escalating its own strikes, launching dozens of missiles on Friday and launching scores of explosive drones to destroy Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
