Mumbai police seizes drugs worth over Rs 3 crore, 12 traders arrested

The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has seized 16 kilograms of drugs worth an estimated Rs 325 crore and arrested 12 drug peddlers in the past one month, an official said.

According to ANC officials, the arrests came from the village of Sahar, Narasopara, Santa Cruz, Korla, Byculla and other areas.

He said the drugs seized included varying amounts of MD, heroin and marijuana.

The official said the police arrested one person from Sahar village, two people from Narasopara, three people from Santacruz, two people from south Mumbai, Korla and Bhikkhu one person in Lagos and a Nigerian national in Korla and MD drugs worth Rs 2.24 billion were seized from their possession.

Another man was arrested in Andheri for carrying ganja and heroine and the loss was estimated at Rs 102 crore, he said.

In 2023, the ANC registered 106 cases, arrested 229 drug dealers and seized more than 532.3 million rupees in drugs from their possession.

So far this year, 17 cases have been opened and 43 people arrested. The official said that the police had recovered 30,843 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 2,359 crore from their possession and seized Rs 4.05 lakh in cash.
