Moscow:

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Thursday it thwarted an attack on a Moscow synagogue planned by the Islamic State group, Russia’s state news agency reported.

RIA Novosti quoted the report as saying that Russia’s Federal Security Service said that members of the organization had been planning to “carry out a terrorist act against a Jewish religious institution in Moscow.”

The attackers opened fire while trying to make an arrest, but were “suppressed by return fire,” the Federal Security Service said.
