Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are not at their best in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and have won just one out of 7 games so far. Whether it is the performance of some of the young players in the team or the performance of the veterans, RCB has almost found nothing to be proud of. In fact, team captain Faf du Plessis often singles out players who cause his team to lose games. However, his former Chennai Super Kings teammate Suresh Raina did not welcome such comments. After RCB’s defeat against Rajasthan Royals, Du Plessis highlighted Mayank Dagar’s 20-run score as the game-changer. “The pitch has definitely gotten better; you can feel it; the ball is skating well. We were good in the first four overs. I think the 20 points (from Duggal) took away the momentum and shifted the pressure back On us.”

Reina slammed Du Plessis for throwing his team-mates under the bus during his interview with Larantop. He even asserted that someone like Rohit Sharma would never make such comments about his teammates.

“It’s not right if you talk about a young player in front of the media. The captain himself doesn’t score. I’ve played with Fife for many years and he’s a good friend of mine, but he should support the young guys in the team and you Rohit Sharma will never be seen saying such things.”

During the chat, Raina also revealed his plans to open an academy in J&K.

“I want to open my first academy in Jammu and Kashmir because I know there are a lot of talented kids there. A lot of talent in domestic cricket, international cricket and IPL comes from there. They are very welcoming. The kids play ball With the bat and ball on the right and the AK47 on the left, the easiest option for them is the left; however, I hope they go with the bat and ball.”
