Hardik Pandya could be captaining Mumbai Indians but Rohit Sharma is needed ahead of Thursday’s crunch match against Kings XI Punjab in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Rohit Sharma). In a video that surfaced on social media, Rohit can be seen setting up the field before the final over of the match begins. Even though captain Hardik is on the field, it could be the captain himself who has given the responsibility given Rohit’s expertise.

A lot has been said and written about the leadership structure of the Mumbai Indians, with some even suggesting the existence of two groups in the team, one led by Hardik and the other by Rohit. However, things on the field appear to be much more cordial than rumored.

In another video shared by the official IPL X account, Rohit and Hardik can be seen hugging each other after the match and nervously celebrating the victory.

Post-match, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya admitted that the match was too close to his and his team’s liking.

“It was a very good game of cricket. Everybody’s nerves were tested. We did talk before the game that the characters would be examined in this game. Naturally, you think you’re in the right position during the game. Leading position. But we know the IPL has a tendency to produce these games.

“Unbelievable – to come in and play like that (Ashutosh’s knock). Almost every ball hit mid-wicket. Happy for him, happy for his future. We did say during the timeout that we It doesn’t matter how good it looks, we’re going to be soft in some possessions, but a win is a win.”
