Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Harshit Rana has been in the headlines recently for his cheeky farewell to Sunrisers Hyderabad batsman Mayank Agarwal during the IPL 2024 match in Kolkata on Saturday. Mayank looked in good touch but on the third ball of the sixth over, he tried to pull a bouncer from Rana and ended up giving it to the fielder at deep backward leg. Rana was overjoyed after taking his first wicket of the tournament and celebrated by blowing a kiss to the batsman.
This act resulted in a huge fine being imposed on Harshit Rana. “Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Harshit Rana has been fined 60% of the match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
“Rana committed two Level 1 offenses under Clause 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He was fined 10% and 50% of the match fee respectively for the two offenses. Rana admitted both offenses , and accepted the sanction of the Match Referee. For Level 1 Code of Conduct violations, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” an IPL statement read.
Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma repeated the gesture with Mayank Agarwal ahead of Wednesday’s match.

Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar is not happy with Harshit Rana as he expressed his opinion on the matter in his comments.
“He shouldn’t have done that. Did the batsmen do something to him when he hit a six? Cricket can be played without these antics. This is the age of television. I understand that. With you “We celebrated with our teammates but there was no need for such antics from the opposition,” he said in his comments.
