Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant is unable to move on as the team looks to chase a ‘record’ of 267 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Saturday. Young Australian Jake Fraser-McGurk gave DC hope of getting close to the SRH total with an 18-ball 65 but other batsmen failed to keep up with him . In terms of number of goals, Pant lasted the longest at the crease, scoring 44 off 35 balls, but his pace was disappointing.
After the match, Pant admitted that his team had been chasing for almost the entire game. Although DC lost the powerplay match uncontested due to their poor bowling, even Pant was criticized by the fans for his poor performance with the bat in the match.

After the match, the wicket-keeper batsman said: “I think the only thought process behind it was that there might have been a dew that didn’t come out (choosing to bowl first), but if we restricted them, we still had a chance to get to 220-230 and they Got (125) points and then we chased more in the second innings, which was more than we expected, but when we need to chase 260, 270, you need to keep scoring runs.
“Hopefully we can come up with a little more thought process and a clear mindset in the future. His batting was outstanding (on Fraser McGurk) and he was good to us and that’s what we need to do as a team , come together and see where we can improve in the next game.”
