Revanth Reddy expresses concern over US student attack in Hyderabad, promises helpdesk

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Wednesday expressed concern over the attack on an Indian IT student from Hyderabad, US, saying the government will set up dedicated services for all young people living there and from other countries desk to ensure all their needs are met.

In a post by the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on social media platform Concerns for the safety of students and citizens in the U.S. – Chicago native Syed Mazahir Ali.

Very disturbing to learn that Syed Mazahir Ali, a student from #Hyderabad, was attacked by four robbers in #Chicago. Before that, B. Shreyas Reddy was fatally attacked in Ohio. I request the Honorable External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar ji to convey our concerns about the safety of students and citizens residing there.

Posting on X, Telangana CMO said that our government will set up a dedicated help desk for all youth, especially students, living in the United States and other countries to ensure that all their needs are met.

I assure all citizens of #Telangana – wherever you are – the Congress government is here to serve you! Telangana Chief Marketing Officer CM Sri @Revanth_Anumula said in the post. Ali, who moved to the US from Hyderabad about six months ago, was brutally attacked by unidentified men near his home in Chicago.

In a video posted on social media, Syed Mazahir Ali can be seen being chased by three men on the evening of February 4. In another video posted on X, Ali can be seen describing his ordeal, with blood coming from his nose and face and blood on his clothes. His wife, who lives in Hyderabad, has contacted External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to request assistance in traveling to the United States with their three minor children.

“I am very worried about my husband’s safety. I ask you to help him get the best treatment and make the necessary arrangements so that I can travel to the United States with my three children,” Ali’s wife said in a message to the foreign minister said the letter.
