Republic Day 2024: When and where to watch President Draupadi Murmu’s address to the nation today

Republic Day 2024: India will celebrate its 75th Republic Day on Friday, January 26. The day commemorates the transformation of India into a republic with the adoption of the Constitution on January 26, 1950. President Draupadi Murmu is scheduled to deliver her annual address on Thursday, January 25. Like last year, the address is expected to be telecast in Hindi and English on all Doordarshan channels and on All India Radio (AIR) from 7 pm onwards. Additionally, the speech will be made available in regional languages ​​through the regional channels of Doordarshan.

In July 2022, Murmu created history by becoming the first tribal woman to hold India’s highest constitutional post. Murmu, India’s second woman President, had given a detailed speech on the eve of Independence Day last year.

He paid tribute to Dr BR Ambedkar and other members of the Constituent Assembly who helped draft the Constitution of India. He praised the initiatives of Modi government like Self-reliant India and Digital India. President Murmu also mentioned gender inequality in India.

This year, President Draupadi Murmu is expected to highlight some of the creditable achievements of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government in her Republic Day address.
