Islamabad:

A PCB source said that if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially refuses to send its team to Pakistan to play the ICC Champions Trophy, it will consider options to respond to the BCCI. Responding to a question about the recent report that neighboring countries may not travel to the country for next year’s tournament. “PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has already said that Pakistan is ready to play a bilateral series with India at a neutral venue if India agrees to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan next year,” a PCB source told IANS. “

“There is a clear and glaring contradiction between Rohit Sharma’s statement and the BCCI source-based story. This clearly shows that when it comes to cricket, the players are interested and have no problem in playing with each other on home grounds. But it is the political leadership of India which always creates nuisance and blocks the way every time.”

He further reminded that Pakistan had sent its team to India for the World Cup, which highlights Islamabad’s readiness to face challenges and work towards the revival of India-Pakistan cricket.

Pakistan is preparing to host its first international cricket event since the 1996 World Cup. The Champions Trophy is an ICC (International Cricket Council) event and India expected that refusing to send its team to Pakistan would not be easy.

However, the timing and preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy could be used to discuss a hybrid model in which India-Pakistan matches could be shifted to neutral venues such as Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

On Tuesday, BCCI sources told IANS that Team India may not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy next year, and the venue will likely be shifted or a hybrid model will be used.

He also said that a bilateral series with the neighbors is “unlikely” in the near future.

India and Pakistan last played a bilateral limited overs series in 2012–13, when Pakistan toured India.

Last year, India had refused to send its team to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan and ultimately, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) had to adopt a hybrid model for the event, with most of the matches being held in Sri Lanka. was divided. ,
