Royal Challengers Bangalore kicked off the IPL 2024 season with the RCB Unbox event. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first match in Chennai on March 22 against Chennai Super Kings. Superstar Virat Kohli made his first appearance at Royal Challengers Bangalore’s training session on Monday. Kohli arrived in India on Sunday after traveling abroad for the birth of his second child.
As part of the warm-up, the former India and RCB captain performed a tour at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Captain Faf du Plessis was also present. RCB, who have never won the IPL, will take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on Friday.
Kohli’s performance in the lucrative T20 league will be closely watched ahead of the T20 World Cup in the United States and Caribbean. The 35-year-old played his first T20 match since the 2022 World Cup against Afghanistan in January. Skipper Rohit Sharma has also made a comeback in the series and is expected to lead the Indian team in the T20 World Cup starting from June 1.
Kohli also missed the five-match home Test series against England due to family reasons.
The batting superstar had a memorable run in the IPL last year, totaling 639 runs, including 200 and six half-centuries.
