Reacting to BRS leader KT Rama Rao’s ‘phone tapping’ remarks, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Friday warned that anyone involved in phone tapping under the previous government will be sent to jail.

“Earlier, the government was scaring people who voted for them by filing cases against them and tapping their phones. ‘KTR said they tapped some phones, so what?’ Can anyone talk like that? If you tap your phones, you Will go to Cherlapalli jail. The policemen who listened to them are in jail. We have said that they are perpetrators, thieves and if you listen to them, you will go to jail. “KTR’s remarks are like an unbridled bull. They will pay a price but the case is under investigation,” Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said.

BRS working president KT Rama Rao had earlier claimed that “telephone tapping,” if it took place, could be limited to a few people.

Earlier today, Hyderabad Police said it would further inform the public that the investigation into the Panjagutta PS Cr No 243/2024 case is ongoing and another person involved in the reported crime in the case has been arrested by the Investigation Bureau The officer responsible for the case today.

Former SIB DSP Praneeth Rao, Adnl. SP members Bhujanga Rao and Thirupathanna, who were arrested in connection with the phone hacking case after questioning former Task Force DCP Radhakishan Rao for over 10 hours, have been arrested.

Details of those arrested: Mr. P. Radha Kishan Rao, Rtd SP, former DCP/OSD, Special Task Force, Hyderabad City Police.

As part of the investigation into the case, the man was summoned to Banjara Hills PS for questioning yesterday, during which he admitted his involvement in the reported criminal act of conspiring to exploit private files using official resources. For lawful duties; Unauthorized and unlawful surveillance of such persons; Conducting certain operations in a politically biased manner; Model code of conduct for the illegal transfer of money using official resources during elections; and collusion with other defendants, the release said , destroy public property and cause evidence to disappear, destroy evidence of their illegal activities.

“Based on his confession, he was arrested by the investigating officer at around 8 am today and produced before His Excellency the 14th Metropolitan Chief Magistrate to seek judicial custody as per accepted procedure and he has been remanded to judicial custody , till April 12, 2024. Therefore, he is lodged in Chanchalguda jail today evening.”
