Ten people were injured in the blast that took place at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru on Friday. The entire sequence of events – the suspect’s arrival at the café and the explosion – occurred within 86 minutes.

The identity of the suspect remains unknown, with only limited footage of the Rameshwaram Cafe available. The suspect, whose face was hidden by a mask, goggles and a cap over his head, was captured on cameras installed inside the cafe carrying a plate of idli.

Another person seen with the suspect has been detained and is being interrogated by Bengaluru Police.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has taken charge of the investigation, deploying multiple teams to identify the accused. State police chief Alok Mohan assured the public that despite the seriousness of the incident, no one was seriously injured. As forensic teams investigate the spot, NSG commandos and bomb squads continue to comb the area for evidence.

Police have invoked stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosive Substances Act in response to the attack. Persons previously implicated under the anti-terrorism law are also being investigated. The suspected IED used in the incident resembles the one deployed in Mangaluru in 2022 when an autorickshaw exploded.
