In yet another incident of dog attack in the national capital, a seven-year-old girl was injured by a pet pitbull in Jagatpuri area of Shahdara, police said today.
A police officer said the girl was playing outside her house on Friday evening when the dog suddenly attacked her and dragged her away before she was rescued by neighbours.
The girl was taken to the hospital by her mother and her condition is said to be out of danger, the officer said.
Police recorded the statement of the girl’s mother and scanned CCTV footage of the area to trace the sequence of events.
Police said a case has been registered against the dog’s owner Shivanand Bhaskar under sections 289 (negligent act in relation to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code and investigation is underway. Has been started.
Several incidents of digging have been witnessed in Delhi in the last few weeks. Last week, a two-year-old girl was allegedly mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Central Delhi’s Tughlaq Road area. A seven-year-old girl was allegedly attacked by an American leopard in Shahbad Dairy area while she was playing near her house. In another incident, a pitbull allegedly snatched an 18-month-old boy from his grandfather’s lap and mauled him in Uttarakhand colony of Burari.
