Ration scam: TMC leader Shajahan yet to appear before ED officials

Absconding Trinamool Congress leader Shajahan Sheikh was yet to appear before Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Monday over charges that he received a third check in the multi-crore ration scam, an official said. subpoena.

He said officials from the education department were waiting for the TMC leaders to come up with a list of questions at their offices at the CGO building in Salt Lake City.

“We have been waiting for Shah Jahan Sheikh since morning. He is yet to appear before the officials at the CGO complex. No one has appeared before our officials on his behalf today. We will wait for him till tonight,” the ED said room official told PTI. The ED has issued summons to the TMC leader, accusing him of being involved in a multi-crore rupee ration scam.

Sources in the education ministry said that if the TMC leaders, to whom they have also issued a lookout notice, do not respond to the summons at all, then they may seek legal recourse. On January 24, the ED sealed Shahjahan’s residence following a raid operation in connection with the scam.

On January 5, a team of ED officials was attacked by a mob while trying to enter the TMC leader’s residence in Sandeshkhali. Three ED officials were injured in the attack.
