Ram Lalla’s ‘Pran Pratishtha’: From crown to bracelet, all about the divine jewelery worn by the Lord

Original idols of Lord Rama (Ram Lalla Virajman) and his brothers were installed in front of the new idol inside the sanctum sanctorum or ‘Garbhagriha’ of the temple.

The magnificent new idol shows the deity adorned with ‘mukut’, ‘kundal’, ‘kanth’, ‘padika’ and many other divine ornaments.

With the temple opening for public darshan from January 23, here is a brief description of the divine jewelery worn by Ram Lalla –

crown

Made in North Indian tradition, the crown is made of gold and decorated with rubies, emeralds and diamonds. The symbol of Sun God has been placed exactly in the middle of the crown. On the right side of the crown, strings of pearls are intricately woven.

coil

The kundalas follow the same design as the ‘mukut’ and are adorned with peacock motifs, embellished with gold, diamonds, rubies and emeralds.

kantha

On the neck of the deity is a crescent-shaped necklace studded with gems, with a floral design symbolizing good fortune, with the image of the Sun God in the centre.

Made of gold and studded with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, this necklace provides divine beauty. Beautiful strands of emeralds hang down, adding to its majestic appearance.

Kaustubh Man

The Kaustubha gem is worn in the heart of the deity, which is decorated with large rubies and diamonds. It is a classical tradition that Lord Vishnu and his incarnations hold the Kaustubha gem in their hearts, hence it has been included in this.

Padika

It is a necklace worn below the neck and above the navel, which is important in divine adornment. The jewelery is a five-strand necklace made of diamonds and emeralds, with a large, ornate pendant.

Vaijayanti Or victory garland

This is the third and longest necklace, made of gold and studded with rubies in between. Worn as a symbol of victory, this ornament depicts the auspicious symbols of Vaishnava tradition – Sudarshan Chakra, lotus, conch and Mangal Kalash. It is also decorated with the favorite flowers of the deities including lotus, champa, parijat, kunda and tulsi.

Kanchi,girdle

A gem studded kamarbandh is adorned around the waist of the deity, made of gold with natural beauty and decorated with diamonds, rubies, pearls and emeralds. It also has small bells symbolizing purity, on which hang strings of pearls, rubies and emeralds.

Bhujbandh

The deity also wears bangles studded with gold and precious stones on both the arms.

bracelet

Wore beautiful gemstone bangles on both hands.

Ring

She is wearing rings decorated with gems and hanging pearls on both her hands.

Chhada,Panzania

The feet of the deity are adorned with gem-studded anklets and anklets studded with diamonds and rubies, as well as golden anklets.
