A man in Rajasthan’s Sirohi district allegedly beat his 17-year-old daughter to death because she failed to prepare for school exams, police said on Saturday.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Pushpendra Verma said the accused Fateh Mohammad (42), a resident of Prem Nagar, has been arrested.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Mohammed was angry with his daughter, a Grade 11 student, because she was not studying for exams. As a result, he beat her with a stick on Thursday, he said.
Based on a complaint by the girl’s uncle, the accused father was arrested on Saturday and the murder weapon was recovered.
According to the DSP, the girl may have died due to internal injuries, but the exact cause of death will be revealed after the post-mortem report is released.
