Detailed investigation into family’s allegations: Police (representative)

Jaipur:

A gang-rape victim allegedly committed suicide at her home in Sri Ganga Nagar, Rajasthan, police said on Friday.

The woman’s family and some locals staged a protest outside the hospital morgue where the victim’s body was kept, demanding action over police laxity and compensation.

SP Sri Ganganagar Gaurav Yadav said the woman had also tried to commit suicide a few days ago but was saved by her family. Only after this did she reveal the gang-rape incident and lodged an FIR on March 25.

Two defendants were arrested the next day, followed by a third defendant.

According to police, the woman hanged herself at her home and her body was found Thursday morning.

SP Yadav said the family ended their protest and agreed to conduct the autopsy after the police pacified them.

“They have now agreed to conduct an autopsy,” he said.

SP Yadav said a detailed probe into the family’s allegations will be carried out and action will be taken against the guilty policemen.
