The incident came to attention when a woman from Pali district filed a police complaint alleging that Mewada and Chaudhary lured her and over 20 other women with job offers and sexually assaulted them.

The woman also alleged that the accused filmed the sexual assault and later threatened to post the video on social media to blackmail the victims, demanding Rs 5 lakh each.

The complainant told the police that she and other women had gone to Sirohi a few months ago to work in anganwadi and met the accused, who provided them with accommodation and meals.

She further claimed that they were sexually assaulted after consuming food laced with sedatives.

After the women regained consciousness, they were confronted by the defendant, who admitted to cheating on them.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Paras Choudhary said the women had earlier filed a false complaint. However, the Rajasthan High Court later ordered a case to be registered following a petition filed by eight women.
