Railways react after video shows ticketless passengers sitting on sleeper carriage floor

In the video, the train carriage is packed with passengers sitting on the floor.

There have been a lot of complaints recently about overcrowding on trains. Some rail passengers took to social media to show the “horrendous” conditions on trains, which are overcrowded and unticketed passengers occupying seats. In a similar situation, an X user posted a video showing ticketless passengers crowding the sleeper compartment of the Suhaildev Superfast Express in which he was traveling.

In the video, the train carriage is packed with passengers sitting on the floor. The corridors of the train are also crowded, with little room to move around.

Railway Seva, the official customer service account of the railways, responded to his post and asked him to share the details.

“We request you to preferably share your journey details (PNR/UTS number) and mobile number with us via DM. You can also raise your concerns directly or call 139 for quick rectification,” the reply read.

Some internet users have expressed anger and frustration over the situation, which is unfortunately “all too common” in India.

Earlier, a passenger named Rachit Jain shared a disturbing story about his sister’s experience in the air-conditioned three-decker coach. Mr Jayne described scenes of extreme crowding near the carriage doors, which prevented his sister from boarding the flight. In the chaos, her child was unfortunately separated from her and left on the platform.
