Rahul Gandhi filed nomination for Lok Sabha elections in Wayanad yesterday

New Delhi:

According to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s affidavit filing his nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha elections in Kerala, he has assets worth Rs 20 crore but no vehicles or homes. Mr. Gandhi has declared movable assets of about Rs 924 crore. This includes Rs 55,000 in cash, Rs 26.25 lakh in bank deposits, Rs 433 crore in bonds and stocks, Rs 381 crore in mutual funds, Rs 15.21 lakh in gold bonds and jewelery worth Rs 4.20 lakh.

The Congress leader owns real estate worth Rs 11.15 crore. These include agricultural land in Delhi’s Mehrauli that he jointly owns with his sister, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Mr. Gandhi also owns office space in Gurgaon, which is currently worth over Rs 9 crore. While agricultural land is considered inherited property, office space is not.

Mr Gandhi also detailed the police case against him in the affidavit. These include a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act for allegedly disclosing the identities of family members of a rape victim in social media posts.

He said the FIR was under seal as per the directions of the Delhi High Court. “Hence, I am not aware of the details of the FIR. I am also not aware whether I have been arraigned as an accused in the FIR. However, out of an abundance of caution, I have disclosed its existence,” he said.
