Raghav Chadha talks 'big conspiracy' after Arvind Kejriwal arrest

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the liquor policy case.

New Delhi:

Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha today slammed the investigation agency Enforcement Directorate (ED) for raiding the official residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Excise Policy “scam” case. Mr Kejriwal was arrested hours after the attack.

The Enforcement Directorate reached Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Delhi Civil Lines around 7 pm today. Investigating agencies questioned Mr. Kejriwal and searched his residence. His laptop and mobile phone, as well as his wife’s mobile phone, were confiscated and examined for possible evidence, and the data from these devices was recorded by investigating agencies.

Delhi Police imposed Section 144 near Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, prohibiting gathering or protesting of four or more persons.

Raghav Chadha posted on microblogging site Mr. Rival has the blessings of millions of people and no one can touch him.”

He further wrote, “Today, the wonderful work done in Delhi and Punjab is being discussed across the world. You can arrest Arvind Kejriwal’s body but not his mind and ideology.”

AAP leaders and Delhi Minister Atishi also strongly condemned the Enforcement Directorate (ED) move.

In a major setback for Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi High Court has refused to grant him protection from arrest. However, the court ordered the ED to file a reply to Mr Kejriwal’s fresh petition and postponed the matter to April 22.

The Delhi liquor policy ‘scam’ case involves alleged corruption and money laundering by the Delhi government in formulating and implementing the excise policy for 2021-22, which was later repealed. The Enforcement Directorate said, “Through corrupt and conspiratorial practices in the formulation and implementation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22, wholesalers have brought a steady flow of illegal funds in the form of kickbacks to the AAP.”

Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was arrested in connection with the case in February last year, and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was detained in October.

The Delhi Chief Minister has now moved the Supreme Court for an urgent hearing.
