Queen Camilla says King Charles is ‘doing very well’ after starting cancer treatment

The new photo of the king was released on the day the Queen said during a visit to Belfast that the King was “doing very well” after starting cancer treatment.

Queen handed her husband a get well card at a deli Cityshe also visited a butcher shop and a bakery.

She thanked store clerk Brenda Robb for the card and her best wishes, telling her the king was “done well” and that he was “very disappointed that he couldn’t come.”

Responding to jokes about men “not being the best patients”, the royal said: “I try to keep him in line.”

Ms Robb told the PA news agency: “She was beautiful and a real lady. She accepted the get well card I received for her husband and she said she was sorry her husband was not here.”

“It’s such a fitting card. It has a little phrase on it from Belfast, basically rest, take care, and on the back of it it says from Ireland. It was picked with love.

“People said he might not get the card, but I think he will.”

At lunchtime, a photo was released showing the King driving out of Clarence House.

The Queen was in south Belfast, stopping at Coffey’s Butcher’s, Arcadia Deli and Notts Bakery before impromptu meeting and greeting well-wishers.

She received some local favorites as gifts at Coffey’s, including veggie wraps and beer sausages, to which she responded: “I’ll bring these back to my husband and he’ll put them to good use.”

In Notts, Camilla met shop owner William Corrie, his wife, former Miss Northern Ireland and Blue Peter presenter Zoe Salmon, and their one-year-old son Fitz.

The Queen smiled when someone joked that the little boy in a tuxedo was stealing her spotlight.

She left Notts a gift of fruit bread and some iced Madeira cake, adding that she hoped to have a snack later.

At an event at Hillsborough Castle to highlight the importance of Literature and World Poetry Day, the royals met Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O’Neill and Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengery, as well as authors, Actors and performers.
