Pune woman is earning lakhs by cultivating gerbera flowers using modern farming methods.

Agriculture has always contributed to India’s economy. Earlier, this business involved only farmers from villages, who owned large lands and were illiterate. Now, things have changed. From highly paid professionals to housewives, everyone has now ventured into modern farming to try their luck. A woman named Swati Kendre from Pune is one of them. She practiced traditional farming; But now, he has adopted modern farming methods after opening a playhouse on his land to cultivate Gerbera flowers. According to reports, now she is earning lakhs by selling those flowers in the market. He owns 30 gunthas of land, which is approximately more than 30,000 square feet.

Swati Kendre is a farmer from Balawadi village in Bhor taluka of Pune, who is cultivating gerbera flowers with the help of her husband Amit Dnyaneshwar. Her husband is currently working in Pune District Central Cooperative Bank. He continuously promoted cash farming and got polyhouses constructed for farming. Along with this, he also supported his wife in the use of chemical fertilizers, manure, proper weed control, water management, pesticides and organic bacterial fertilizers. The couple planned to sell gerbera flowers as they are always in demand. He cultivates thousands of Gerbera flowers on his land. While talking to Local18, he said that before planting 18 thousand Gerbera saplings, one and a half ton of paddy husk and 25 trolley dung is mixed in the field. After this the field should be plowed at least three to four times. Two days after releasing the water, beds are prepared and 18 thousand saplings of paddy and shine gerbera are planted.

Swati Kendra was always interested in farming. He decided to focus his attention on modern farming methods instead of traditional agriculture for better yield and profits.

These flowers are in huge demand during festivals, celebrations and weddings. It is often used for decoration at events. Swati Kendre said that this crop is a good source of earning because it is produced throughout the year. According to Swati, 300 bunches of gerbera flowers are sent to Pune’s Gultekdi flower market every day. The couple sells their flowers at a price ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 90 depending on the demand in the market.
