Princess Kate made health announcement on March 22

Prince William made a heartfelt gesture to support wife Kate Middleton amid her cancer battle.

Following his recent royal engagement, the Prince of Wales, 41, brought home a thoughtful gift for Kate during her cancer treatment.

Leaving St Michael’s Church of England School on Thursday, the Prince of Wales had gifts in hand for his wife, who revealed on March 22 that she had started preventive chemotherapy.

Kerry Whitehouse, the school’s senior head of mental health, confirmed that Lego sunflowers were among the gifts.

This was because “creating things is therapeutic and sunflowers represent happiness, positivity and strength” and sunflower seeds are great “for sowing seeds of positivity”.

Whitehouse continued to tell People: “We wanted to give not flowers but something significant to reflect the theme of the day.

“He thanked us and said the Legos would be nice in the house.”

She also gave Princess Kate, 42, a crocheted starfish, “which comes with a story about making a difference to others,” according to a school official.

She also provided gifts for Prince William, 10-year-old Prince George, eight-year-old Princess Charlotte and six-year-old Prince Louis.

Prince William received positivity cards featuring crocheted “wellbeing worms” and emotion wheels for the children.

The journey began when a 12-year-old student named Freddie Hadley wrote a letter to the Prince and Princess of Wales, inviting them to see his work.

The Prince of Wales remained out of the public eye for several weeks after Princess Kate’s health announcement on March 22 to spend time with his family while his three children were on Easter holidays.
