King Charles is said to be looking forward to attending the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day in France later this year.
The 75-year-old monarch is taking advice from his medical team to attend the event in June, which honors fallen World War II warriors at a major ceremony as a former Royal Navy officer.
talking to daily ExpressA spokesman for the late Queen, Dickie Arbiter, said: “It is too big to miss as this will be the last major anniversary where the legend will attend.
“The memorial honors soldiers who served Britain and the Commonwealth and is incredibly important. He would definitely like to be there.”
Mr Arbiter added: “Charles seemed to be in good spirits on a surprise stroll after the Easter service at St George’s Chapel and D-Day is six weeks away. I would like to say yes, he will be there and will do everything possible to ensure that.
“Apparently what’s happening [cancer] The treatment takes it out of you, but he would be conscious of doing his constitutional duty and I would be very surprised if he was not in the Normandy.
“It will be huge and Charles will know how important it is to celebrate the 80th anniversary. Sadly there aren’t many greats left, so he would definitely like to be there and would be very disappointed if he isn’t.
“I would say he will. Of course, any decision should be taken on medical advice,” Dickey said.
