Former Samajwadi Party MP Roshan Lal Verma on Saturday claimed that he received death threats from callers using different numbers.
He also claimed he was also abused, police said.
The Inspector General of Police has handed over investigation of the matter to the Cyber Cell.
“The accused called me from different numbers and threatened to kill me and kept abusing me whenever I said anything,” Verma told PTI on Saturday. As a result, he said, he became “very mentally disturbed “.
He added that so far he has written down 10 mobile phone numbers of people allegedly harassing him.
The former attorney general said he had met police chief Ashok Kumar Meena and lodged a complaint in this regard. Even after this, he again received calls from both numbers on Saturday morning. When his daughter picked up the phone, the caller used abusive language.
Meanwhile, SP Meena said the former MLA’s complaint has been taken seriously and a cyber cell has been directed to look into the matter.
