President Drupadi Murmu will arrive in Port Blair on Monday

President Durupadi Murmu will arrive here on Monday on a five-day official visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, officials said. This will be her first visit to the islands after taking office as president in 2022.

The President will arrive at INS Utkrosh, Port Blair at around 1 pm. She will be welcomed by Vice Admiral DK Joshi, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN), Air Marshal Saju Balakrishnan, Chief Secretary Keshav Chandra, Commissioner of Police Devesh Chandra Srivastava and MP Kuldeep Sharma.

Upon arrival, the President will lay a wreath at the Martyrs’ Column and visit the cells and museum. They said she would also witness a light and sound show at the cellar prison.

She will visit Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Dollygunj, Port Blair for a civic reception followed by a cultural program in her honor in the evening. On February 20, Murmu will visit Indira Point (the southernmost tip of India) and Campbell Bay. She will also visit Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island (formerly known as Ross Island) and witness a light and sound show.

At Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island, Nandini Paliwal, Managing Director of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation Limited (ANIIDCO), will brief her about the National Memorial Development Plan.

On February 21, the President will interact with members of the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at Raj Niwas in Port Blair. On the same day, she will witness an operational demonstration by the troops at Ladnagar beach in Swarajdwipur, popularly known as Havelock Islands.

She will leave Port Blair on February 23, they added.
