President Droupadi Murmu shares extraordinary journey with Smriti Israeli in DD National Today’s special program

DD National will air a one-hour program on Wednesday in which President Droupadi Murmu will reflect on her tenure in the country in an interview with Union Minister Smriti Israeli The journey to the highest constitutional office in the land, as well as stories from childhood memories and public life.

The special program was recorded at the Presidential Palace and aired on Akashvani Gold and Akashvani Rainbow on World Radio Day on Tuesday.

She fondly describes the story behind her name, which was given to her by her school teacher. Murmu also delved into her education, career and political journey, and shared her experiences interacting with the crowd as president. She also spoke about her recent trip in the Delhi Metro, the report added.

President Murmu narrated how ordinary tribal women like her have overcome all odds and continued to achieve their goals of serving the country through their courage, dedication and determination, Air News reported. The President also recalled the historic day when she first arrived in the new Parliament and addressed a joint session of the House of Representatives, with Sengol being carried before her.

AIR said the President expressed happiness over the government’s initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), which aims to benefit the tribal population, especially the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG). President Murmu also shared her vision for a developed India in 2047, the public broadcaster added.
