Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke to Prof TN Sarasu, the BJP candidate from the Arathur Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala and assured her of cooperation in participating in the state Banks take strict action against those suspected of irregularities.

Party leaders said Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Professor Sarasu to inquire about the progress of her campaign from the Alatur seat.

The seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes and retired university president Sarasu’s candidature was announced on Sunday.

In a phone call with the Prime Minister, Sarasu raised the issue of irregularities reported by some cooperative banks in Kerala and sought the Prime Minister’s intervention to punish the guilty.

Prime Minister Modi responded: “I am happy that as a candidate you are thinking about people’s problems and common man’s problems. That is a good thing for any civil servant. I am happy to hear you raising questions. ”

He said he had heard about it and had some details and agreed with the candidate that “a lot of poor people were affected.” “Our government will take strict action against all those involved and we will ensure that the poor get justice. One more thing for Sarasu lucky What I want to tell you is that I will take legal advice and whatever property the ED (Enforcement Directorate) will seize and the money involved, common man’s money, I will ensure that every paisa should be returned to that person for fear of it.

“We will do this strictly. You can promise them on my behalf that whatever property is seized by the ED, the money will be returned to the people, those who have invested in the banks,” PM Modi said.

One of the major cooperative scams was reported by the ruling Karuvanur Services Cooperative Bank in Thrissur district controlled by the CPI(M). The ED is currently investigating the matter and has arrested a number of people and interrogated local leaders of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in Thrissur district for their alleged involvement.

The central agency has also seized properties of several persons suspected of being involved in the scam.

The Alatur Lok Sabha constituency consists of seven assembly wards, four of which are in Palakkad district and three in Thrissur district.
