PM Modi to inaugurate Odisha highway, power and railway projects on February 3

Prime Minister Narendra Modi plans to inaugurate the Rs 400-crore permanent campus of the Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur worth Rs 28,978 crore during his one-day visit to Odisha on February 3, officials said. The project and the Rs 2,045-crore national highway project were inaugurated, sources said.

The Prime Minister also planned to inaugurate the redeveloped Sambalpur station and Talcher-Sambalpur double track project (168.2 km) at a cost of Rs 2,193 crore.

He is also likely to inaugurate the newly constructed Sonepur station and launch trains on the Bolangir-Sonepur section (47 km) of the Khurda Road-Bolangir New Line (301 km) project.

Once completed, Sonepur will get rail connectivity, an official said.

The Prime Minister on Saturday will inaugurate three transformative highway projects constructed at a cost of Rs 2,045 crore, NHAI said in a release on Thursday.

These projects are the four-lane project on the Biramitrapur to Brahmani Bypass end of NH-143, with a total length of 24 kilometers, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 679 crore; the four-lane project from the Brahmani Bypass end of NH-143 to Rajamunda, with a total length of 47 kilometers, in Sundargarh district Investment of Rs 538 crore; Four-lane Rimuli to Koida section of NH-520, 42 km long, developed at a cost of Rs 828 crore, located in Keonjhar district.

The NHAI release also revealed that the stretch of NH-143 highway from Biramitrapur to Brahmani Bypass and from the end of Brahmani Bypass to Rajamunda These include the four-lane flyover at Vedvyas and the much-awaited 473-meter-long six-lane bridge across the River Brahmani.

The project enhances connectivity to Rourkela, the industrial hub of the region, and Jharkhand. It will reduce travel time and ease the movement of goods and people between the two countries. Besides, it will also facilitate smoother traffic to the district headquarters and Jharsuguda airport via Biju Expressway (SH-10), it added.

Earlier in the day, NTPC Regional Executive Director (Eastern Zones I and II) Sudip Nag informed that the Prime Minister will also inaugurate NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW) and NSPCL Rourkela PP Expansion Project (1×250 MW) ceremony. ) and laid the foundation stone for the third phase (2×660MW) of NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project, with a total investment of 289.78 billion rupees.

Darlipali STPP, located in Sundergarh district, is a pit-head power station using supercritical (high-efficiency) technology that will provide low-cost power to beneficiary states such as Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Gujarat and Sikkim .

He said that the 250 MW project of NTPC-SAIL Power Limited being built at Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) will provide reliable power to the steel plant which is crucial for economic growth.

He said the company was developing Phase III of the Talcher Thermal Power Project on the old TTPS premises in Angul district, which the company took over from the Odisha Electricity Board in 1995.

The old TTPS plant was decommissioned after more than 50 years of service. The upcoming plant will have high-efficiency units based on ultra-supercritical technology and will have a capacity approximately three times that of the old TTPS plant.

While 50% of the project’s power generation is earmarked for Odisha, other beneficiary states such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Assam will also receive low-cost power from this pithead station.

The official said the project, which is under construction, has all modern environmental protection features such as high-efficiency electrostatic precipitators, flue gas desulfurization, biomass co-firing, and covered coal storage space, which will help reduce coal consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
