Bangalore:
A 19-year-old college student jumped to his death in front of a moving train arriving at Bengaluru’s Attihuppe station today, causing disruption to metro services, officials said.
Dhruv Thakkar, who hails from Mumbai, is a first-year student at the National Law School in Bengaluru, they said.
No suicide note was found, police said, adding that the reasons for his extreme step were yet to be ascertained.
According to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the incident took place at 2.10 pm.
Metro services on the Purple Line were briefly disrupted following the incident, with trains only running between Magadi Road and Whitefield. Services between Magadi Road and Chalagata were also suspended.
However, later, the BMRCL said the body had been sent to the hospital for post-mortem by the police, adding that the Purple Line trains resumed service after the police cleared the area.
Police will also scan CCTV footage to establish the exact sequence of events.
