Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told a global summit in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday that citizens should feel neither pressure nor absence from the government. He laid out his vision emphasizing a governance model focused on inclusivity, transparency and green energy.
Addressing the World Government Summit in Dubai, the Prime Minister emphasized that the people of India have faith in the intentions and commitment of the Indian government.
“Citizens should neither feel any pressure from the government nor the absence of the government. On the contrary, I believe that the government’s role is to ensure that government interference in people’s lives is minimized.”
Modi is on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates, his seventh in a decade, to deepen bilateral relations and inaugurate the BAPS Mandir, the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the world needs an inclusive, smart, technology-driven, clean, green government with a focus on ease of life (mobility, business).
“We emphasize creating an environment that encourages entrepreneurship and dynamism among citizens… We value people’s participation,” he said.
