Raipur:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief JP Nadda, Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah named as star campaigners for saffron party, as well as Chhattisgarh of the other 40 candidates who will vote in the three phases of the general election.
The list shared by the Chhattisgarh unit of the BJP also includes Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan Dharmendra Pradhan and Arjun Munda.
The chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Assam and Madhya Pradesh are Yogi Adityanath, Himanta Biswa Sarma and Mohan Yadav respectively. Mohan Yadav, and former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will also contest.
The elections to 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh will be held in three phases – April 19, April 26 and May 7. Counting will take place on June 4.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, deputy chief ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma, state BJP president Kiran Dev and four state ministers are also listed as star activists.
Notably, the name of senior BJP leader, former chief minister and Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh did not appear on the list.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and Himanta Sarma campaigned extensively for the Chhattisgarh assembly elections last year, in which the BJP won a landslide victory Defeat the Congress Party by advantage.
The BJP has set a target of winning all 11 seats in the state. In the 2019 polls, the saffron party won 9 constituencies and the Congress won 2 constituencies.
The BJP and the Congress have announced their respective candidates for all 11 constituencies.
