Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday briefed the nation about the Marathwada Railway Coach Factory in Latur, which will supply Vande Bharat train sets and in Maharashtra, officials said Various other railway projects were initiated.

Central Railway (CR) officials said that the Marathwada Railway Coach Factory will coordinate with its technical partners to ensure supply of Vande Bharat train sets (16-car sets) to the railways.

All departments of the factory are equipped with the latest machinery and equipment, they said.

It will bring in a whole new set of vendors to supply various components to the sector, thus ensuring development of the entire Marathwada region, a railway press release said.

It will provide direct employment opportunities to approximately 1,300 people and indirect employment opportunities to more than 10,000 people in various outsourcing activities, the announcement said.

“The Marathwada Railway Coach Factory will create large-scale employment opportunities for the youth of Marathwada,” Latur Collector Varsha Thakur-Guge said.

The first phase of the project will cost Rs 675.79 crore and will cover an area of ​​110 acres. In the first phase, the factory will produce 120 Vande Bharat train coaches.

According to CR, the wagon repair shop at Badnera will serve the two major cargo terminals of Central Railway at Bhusawar and Nagpur and increase the availability of wagons.

The virtual event held at the center of Mumbai was attended by Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister Narayan Rane, State Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha and others.

“Railways are changing the lives of common people. Every day, 15 kilometers of new rail tracks are being laid in the country. Through the One Station One Product Scheme and Ekta Mall, products of local artisans are being promoted,” Shinde said in his speech. Chief Minister Said that his government is receiving assistance from the Maharashtra Development Center and thanked Prime Minister Modi for launching various projects in the state.

Shinde revealed that Ekta Mall will be set up in Ulwe, Navi Mumbai. The mall will help promote national integration, ‘Make in India’, District One Products (ODOP) concept and help rural artisans sell their products.
