PM Modi calls mid-term budget 2024-25 “inclusive” and “innovative”, says it will make life easier for common man

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday termed the mid-term budget for 2024-25 presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman as “inclusive” and “innovative”, It added that this would make life easier for common people.

An interim budget is a temporary financial plan presented by the government when it does not have the time or authority to present a full budget.

Key highlights of the 2024-25 Interim Budget include “no changes” to the direct and indirect tax regime, including import duties.

“The income tax relief scheme will provide relief to 10 million middle class people. In this budget, important decisions have been taken for farmers,” Prime Minister Modi said while addressing the nation.

The Prime Minister further said that the 2024-25 medium-term budget has “confidence of continuity” and “guarantees to strengthen the foundation for 2047”.

  • The Prime Minister said that the budget ensures strengthening the foundation of Viksit Bharat till 2047.
  • He emphasized that the government in this budget will empower the poor and middle class by creating new opportunities for them. “For empowerment, the focus is on providing new sources of income to the poor and middle class. We have built over Rs 4 crore of houses for the poor in rural and urban areas. Now we are targeting to build over Rs 2 crore under this scheme houses,” Prime Minister Modi pointed out.
  • The budget provides for 40,000 Vande Bharat standard bogies to be installed on regular trains, he added.
  • Prime Minister Modi also highlighted two decisions taken in the budget, saying Rs 100 crore has been announced for research and innovation.
  • Emphasizing on women empowerment, Prime Minister Modi said, “Our target was to make 20 million women ‘Lakhpatis’. Now, the target has been raised to 30 million Lakhpatis.”
  • The Prime Minister further praised the Ayushman Bharat Yojana for its massive assistance to the poor and extending its benefits to Anganwadi and ASHA workers.
