People of Mumbai celebrate ten years with touching stories; here’s their roadmap for the future

Humans of Bombay, one of India’s most popular storytelling platforms known for capturing inspiring stories of diverse individuals, proudly celebrated its 10th anniversary yesterday. The platform started in Mumbai and has expanded over the past decade to cover all cities in India and connect with people around the world through the power of storytelling. With a community of over 5 million followers and a diverse pan-India audience, HOB chronicles stories from local tea stalls to interpreting the journey of India’s most important leaders like Ratan Tata and Narendra Modi.

Dedicated to capturing the brighter side of the human experience, the platform delves into complex topics such as domestic violence, homosexuality, sex work and substance abuse. This milestone not only marks a decade of efforts to champion India’s outstanding stories, but also the platform’s commitment to making important conversations accessible to a wider audience.

The journey has been extremely rewarding, with many milestones achieved, including raising funds for individuals such as Ali Bhatt, a Kashmiri carpet weaver from Kabelia who was wrongfully imprisoned for 23 years A young girl from the tribe, and a 14-year-old aspiring pilot. In addition to sharing inspiring stories, HOB has also partnered with brands such as Dove, Amazon, WhatsApp, OLA and Hindustan Unilever to further showcase the achievements and successes of ordinary people. Suvidha Centre, a corporate social responsibility initiative of Hindustan Unilever, partners with HOB to highlight the stories of individuals benefiting from dignified sanitation, generate positive responses and create awareness on social media. In addition to these online initiatives, the platform is also expanding its reach through various channels, including white label agencies, YouTube shows such as “How Did I Do That” and “The Bombay Show”.

Looking ahead, HOB is gearing up for its first major offline event, Mumbai Story Festival, to be held later this year. The platform is now delving deeper into their storytelling approach with the launch of “Realign,” a new program offering an immersive experience that explores the unique intersection of science, spirituality and wellness. Built on the three pillars of “Listen,” “Learn,” and “Live,” “Realign” provides you with a comprehensive platform with podcasts of insightful conversations, courses to help you adjust your life, and creative community-based experiential events. and community REALIGN.
