During the first match of IPL 2024 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders, a picture went viral. This is Virat Kohli hugging Gautam Gambhir. The two had a heated argument in IPL 2023 when RCB clashed with Lucknow Supergiants (who Gambhir was coaching at the time). It became one of the lasting images of that IPL. LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was also involved in the fray.

Earlier, Kohli hugged Naveen during the 2023 ODI World Cup match. But Virat Kohli has now revealed how people reacted to his hug.

“People were disappointed with my behavior. I hugged Naveen. Then one day Gowti Bhai came and hugged me. You are doing ‘woo woo’ because your masala has passed,” said Virat Kohli was speaking at an event where people started shouting at the former Indian cricket team captain for mentioning Gautam Gambhir’s name while answering a question.

While Kohli may feel people are disappointed, the former Indian cricket team star appreciated the move. Former Indian cricket team coach Ravi Shastri appreciated the move.

Former Indian cricket team star Irrfan Pathan, who played with Gambhir and Kohli, also commented on the incident.

“Gautam Gambhir, the senior man, actually stepped up to the plate. Sometimes you cross the line but once that thing has passed, when you meet in the future, when you meet now, you will meet well .That’s what we saw,” Irrfan Pathan said on Star Sports.

Gautam Gambhir is known to be a fierce competitor. In a recent interview, he said that he wants to beat RCB every time.

“The one team I want to beat every time, even in my dreams, is RCB. Probably the second highest profile team, a gorgeous team with a boss and a team – Chris Gayle, V Rat Kohli, AB de Villiers. Honestly didn’t win everything, still think they won everything. That kind of attitude. I can’t accept that. Maybe KKR’s best three wins ever were against RCB
“To be honest, our biggest focus is on ourselves. We didn’t play our best cricket the first three games and as we gain momentum this team can get a real win. We’re excited for that to happen and be a part of it part of it would be great,” he said.
