A Pakistani female police officer has been praised for her quick action to defuse a potentially violent situation in Lahore. In a viral video, Assistant Superintendent of Police Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi rescued a woman from a mob.

woman Targeted by mob who accused her of blasphemy, mistaking the Arabic text on her kurta for a Quranic verse. Police were called to a local restaurant where the woman, accompanied by her husband, was asked to remove her sleeveless shirt.

Police, including Ms Naqvi, were called. A video shows ASP Naqvi trying to clear up the chaos around the kurta before safely escorting the woman away from the mob.

About the incident, Ms Naqvi said: “The woman went shopping with her husband. She was wearing a top with some words written on it. When some people saw it, they asked her to take off the top .Everyone is confused.” ”

She won praise and recognition for her role in calming the angry mob and safely escorting the accused woman out of the restaurant.

Punjab Inspector General Usman Anwar formal statement Ms Naqvi’s name has been recommended for the prestigious Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal (QPM), Pakistan’s law enforcement service’s highest gallantry award, and praised her “heroic deeds”, saying: “ASP Syeda Shehrbano Naqvi, brave SDPO Gulbag Lahore risked his life to rescue a woman from a violent crowd.”

The accused woman, who was taken to the police station, later apologized for not intending to hurt religious sentiments. She said, “I had no intention of insulting anyone’s religious sentiments. I bought the kurta just because it had a nice design.”
