Islamabad United all-rounder Imad Wasim put in a match-winning show as he took Multan Sultans by 5 wickets in the final of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 on Sunday. Limit is 159/9. Wasim produced one of his best performances in the T20 league by grabbing some important wickets from the likes of Yasir Khan, David Willey and others . But soon after he worked his magic on the field, Wasim sparked huge controversy for smoking in the team’s dressing room during the match.

Photographers zoomed in on Imad, who was pictured smoking in the Multan Sultans’ dressing room, and the player faced backlash after the video went viral on social media.

Wasim’s brilliant figures of 5/23 in 4 overs paved the way for Islamabad United’s victory in the final. After restricting Multan Sultans to 159, Wasim’s side did face some difficulties in achieving their target. It was on the last ball of the match that the victory was finally won.

“Didn’t know this was going to be the best tournament ever. Just wanted to have an impact on the team winning. It’s a new experience – taking five wickets in the final. Lesson learned and we should finish it” I am happy playing cricket. Do my best to contribute to the team. I have 4-5 years left in my cricket career. ” said Imad Wasim after the final when he was named the man of the match.

Islamabad captain Shadab Khan highlighted the technical details of the match during the post-match presentation ceremony.

“I feel that the more time I have, the better I can utilize the bat. At No. 6-7, I don’t have a power game. I have tried to address my technical issues as a bowler. It has been a long process, And improvements will come. It’s hard for me to watch the game. I don’t have pressure in the middle, but it’s hard to watch from the outside. I also make it difficult for the people next to me, so I don’t sit with the guys who are playing. The next thing to do is to go in. A special mention to the bosses who have supported me. I have been captain for five years and we did not reach the final but they supported me. I think a lot of things make this trophy very important for us, “he said .
