Oprah Winfrey explores the timeless ‘car giveaway’ meme: Deets inside

Oprah Winfrey recently analyzed the memorable moments from her daytime talk show that have become timeless memes over the years.

“That day, I said to everyone in the audience, ‘Please don’t shake your box,’ because I knew if you shook the box, you might feel the keys move,” the media mogul recalled.

“Everyone opens the box at the same time,” Winfrey said. “So, you watch the person next to you get theirs and you’re like, ‘Oh, they got it. But I also get it.'”

Winfrey revealed that she only provided a car to the first 12 people in the audience.

“So, I was like, ‘You get a car, you get a car, you get a car, everybody gets a car.’ Because people were confused,” the talk show host shared.

Winfrey added: “We have to make it meaningful because I already run with my manufacturers when we give away cars and our philosophy is we don’t do anything unintentional.”

The talk show host revealed that “on the day of the giveaway, she would wear a red Celine suit despite her best friend Gayle King’s initial disapproval.”

“I was like, ‘I’m going to wear a red suit because the red suit goes with the red bow.'” It was the best decision. That red suit. It has been with us for decades. ” Winfrey shared.
