Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar said two government school teachers were suspended and an investigation launched against the third for his alleged involvement in religious conversion, “love jihad” and links to banned “jihadi organisations”.
Mr Dilawar, in a video statement released on Friday, said strict action has been initiated against three teachers at a government senior secondary school in Khajuri Odpur village of Sangod.
According to an order from the education officer, the minister ordered action against the teachers after a local group, Sarva Hindu Samaj, Sangod, submitted a memorandum to him on the matter.
The minister said it was brought to his notice that the name of a Hindu girl studying in the school was marked as “Islam” on her transfer certificate.
“There is a conspiracy of religious conversion and love jihad and Hindu girls are being forced to offer namaz… this was brought to my notice,” Mr Dilawar said in the video.
The minister said he has ordered suspension of two teachers Firoz Khan and Mirza Mujahid and action is underway against the third teacher Shabana.
Mr. Dilawar also said that on the basis of further investigation, teachers can also be dismissed from service.
The memorandum also claimed that a Hindu girl, whose name was shown as Muslim in school records, was abducted by Muslim youths and has still not been traced.
Following the instructions of the Education Minister, an order for action against teachers was issued by Kota District Education Officer (Secondary) on Thursday.
According to the order, the minister was handed over a memorandum by the Sarva Hindu Samaj, Sangod, during his visit to the area on Tuesday, alleging that some teachers were involved in “love jihad”, religious conversion and having links with banned “jihadi organisations”. Were included.
‘Love Jihad’ is a term often used by the right wing to allege a conspiracy by Muslim men to lure Hindu women to convert through marriage.
According to the order, all three teachers have been ordered to report to the Directorate of Education, Bikaner during this period.
